UAE, a growing market for Spanish fruit and veg

Spanish fruit and vegetable exports to the UAE have registered a strong growth. They have increased fivefold over the past five years, going from 10,117 tonnes in 2010 to 51,420 tonnes in 2014. There has also been a strong diversification of exports, which include an extensive list of products. In 2015, up until April, exports to the UAE continued this positive trend, with a 28% increase compared to the same period last year.

As far as vegetables are concerned, the most important products are onions, lettuce, tomatoes and carrots; for fruits, the most noteworthy exports are those of stonefruit, pome fruit, berries, melon, watermelon and citrus.

Given the good market prospects, FEPEX is organising a grouped participation in the Wop Dubai fair, to be held from 5 to 7 October 2015, with the support of ICEX and the Ministry of Agriculture, which will involve a very small cost for the companies interested in taking part.

Wop Dubai celebrates its seventh edition this year. It takes an area of 8,000m2 and, according to the organisers, the last edition was visited by 4,436 professionals.
